- Lower it into 500ml of cool water.
- With slow, steady movements, massage and knead the bag for 5–10 minutes.
- Let the water turn cloudy and earthy — that’s the good stuff.
- Remove the bag, honour the root, and your brew is ready.
The Modern Way
- Add your chosen amount of kava to a blender.
- Pour in 500ml of water.
- Blend for 4 minutes, letting the plant release its strength.
- Strain through a strainer bag to keep the brew smooth.
- Serve or chill — your ritual, your pace.

- Pour 100–200ml into your cup or shell.
- Traditionally, it’s taken in one or two grounding gulps.
